Function in Play

  • Juliet Parr’s principal haven is near Highgate Cemetery. The cemetery is also Malkavian gathering territory.
  • In 1969, the Highgate Vampire panic is about to erupt — newspaper stories about strange sightings will proliferate in 1969-1970, leading to amateur “vampire hunters” trespassing nightly.
  • This is a Masquerade crisis in slow motion. Juliet Parr must contain it while maintaining her own operations.
  • The irony: the “Highgate Vampire” may not be a Kindred at all — but the media frenzy threatens to expose those who ARE there.

Physical Read

  • 37 acres of Victorian Gothic funerary architecture. Overgrown paths. Egyptian Avenue. Circle of Lebanon. Angel statues stained with lichen.
  • In the East Cemetery: Karl Marx’s grave, a pilgrimage site for the living.
  • In the catacombs and mausolea: territory for the undead.
