Function in Play

The heart of New Orleans nightlife and the center of Kindred activity. Most visiting Kindred spend time here; most resident Kindred have interests here. The permanent noise, crowds, and carnival atmosphere make it the best feeding ground on the continent.

Physical Read

Six-by-twelve blocks of preserved French colonial architecture. Wrought-iron balconies, courtyard gardens hidden behind gates, gas lamps. The nightclub district at the south end (near Canal Street) runs loud — Bourbon Street steel posts go in at sunset, closing it to traffic and opening it to foot traffic wall to wall. The further north toward Esplanade, the more residential and quiet.
