Consuelo is a woman of deep roots and even deeper stories. She grew up in the Sierra Madre, hearing tales of the things that hunt in the night. She is the one who first told Tomás about La Llorona, el chupacabra, and the brujos de sangre (blood witches).
While Tomás’s mother Sofía wanted him to focus on his education and the Army, Consuelo reminded him that the world is older than its maps. She carved him a small wooden santo of the Virgin of Guadalupe when he was six, which he still carries today.
