Schmidt is a Nazi occultist who was Embraced in 1940. He has spent much of his unlife working in the National Archives and the Library of Congress, cataloging occult and historical records for the Pyramid.

However, Schmidt has secretly turned to Dark Thaumaturgy and is planning to corrupt the DC Chantry from within. He is a careful, methodical researcher who has hidden his activities from Pontifex Dorfman.
