Quietus

Vitae control and assassination. In-Clan for Assamite.

Quietus is the Assamite Discipline of blood — the ultimate development of the relationship between vampire and vitae, turned into a weapon of assassination. It manipulates blood inside and outside the body: silencing sounds, poisoning vitae, drawing blood from living tissue, or dissolving enemies from the inside out.

Assamite tradition: The Assamites are the Kindred’s preeminent assassins, and Quietus reflects that specialization. It is a Discipline designed for killing efficiently, leaving little trace, and operating in silence. An Assamite elder with Quietus 5 is among the most dangerous beings in the Camarilla’s world.

Powers

● Silence of Death

Cost: None | Pool: Automatic | Duration: Scene (or until dismissed)

Create a sphere of total silence around the vampire — a zone of approximately 5 feet per Quietus dot in radius. No sound enters or exits this zone. Gunshots are inaudible outside it; screams cannot be heard through it; approaching footsteps are swallowed.

The vampire themselves can still hear normally within the zone. This is a passive effect that requires no concentration once activated.

●● Scorpion’s Touch

Cost: 1 Blood Point | Pool: Dexterity + Medicine, difficulty 6 (to coat weapon or deliver touch)

Transmute a portion of the vampire’s blood into a contact poison. The poison can be applied to a weapon, the vampire’s hands, or any surface a target will touch.

On contact, the target rolls Stamina (difficulty 6). Each failure costs 1 Health Level (Lethal for mortals; Lethal for vampires). Each success reduces damage by 1. The poison degrades after 1 hour.

Delivery options: Touch, coated melee weapon, food/drink contamination.

●●● Dagon’s Call

Cost: 1 Blood Point | Pool: Stamina + Medicine vs target’s Stamina | Duration: Sustained

Boil the blood inside a victim’s body — requires the vampire to have tasted the target’s blood at some point (even a sip). Range is line of sight; the target does not need to be in physical contact.

Each turn the vampire concentrates on the effect: 1 success per turn = 1 Health Level Lethal damage (or 1 Aggravated after the first few levels). The victim feels internal burning and may not know the source.

●●●● Baal’s Caress

Cost: 1 Blood Point | Pool: Automatic | Duration: Until the weapon strikes

Transmute blood into lethal venom that, when delivered by a weapon, deals Aggravated damage. Coat any melee weapon (or the vampire’s bare hands). The next successful strike deals full Aggravated damage.

Unlike Scorpion’s Touch, Baal’s Caress is not a contact effect requiring a soak roll — it converts the damage directly to Aggravated on a successful attack.

●●●●● Blood Essence

Cost: 2 Blood Points | Pool: Manipulation + Medicine vs target’s Willpower | Duration: Instant

Draw blood from a living or undead body without physical contact. The blood emerges from the target’s body through the skin — dramatic and visible. Damage: 1 Health Level per blood point drawn; the caster receives the drawn blood directly into their body.

Usage: This power is sometimes used executively — draining an opponent to death from across the room — or to selectively feed on targets the caster cannot safely approach.

Elder Powers

Selective Silence (●●●●● ●)

Cost: None | Pool: Automatic

Extend Silence of Death to allow selective permeability — the caster can permit specific sounds through (a conversation partner’s voice, but not gunshots; the target’s screams, but not ambient noise). Precision of selection requires Intelligence + Occult rolls for complex filtering.

Poison the Well of Life (●●●●● ●)

Cost: 3 Blood Points | Pool: Stamina + Medicine, difficulty 8 | Duration: Until treated

Transmit a disease-equivalent through blood contact. The disease is not biological — it attacks the supernatural vitality of vampires. Each night, the afflicted vampire loses 1 Blood Point permanently until the disease is treated by supernatural means. Mortals die within a week.

Taste of Death (●●●●● ●●)

Cost: 2 Blood Points | Pool: Dexterity + Athletics, difficulty 4 (to spit) or standard attack

Spit acidic blood as a ranged attack (range: Stamina + 3 in yards). On a successful hit, the target takes Aggravated damage equal to successes. Against other vampires: the corrosive effect bypasses soak (no soak roll allowed). One of the only ranged sources of Aggravated damage a vampire can produce without fire.
